John Imes, Executive Director
John Imes, a former Chairman of the Board and co-founder
of WEI, joined as Executive Director in July 1998. Previously, John was
the Environmental Manager for Quad/Graphics, the nation's largest
privately held printer. John has over 20 years of experience creating
and managing award-winning programs and is recognized as a leader and
spokesperson for improving Wisconsin’s environment and economy.
John
has been active in many public-private partnerships with government
agencies, environmental groups and business affiliations. Recent engagements include:
- Commissioner, Capital Area Regional Planning Commission
- Member, Governor's Consortium on Biobased Industries and Global Warming Task Force (Industry Work Group)
- Delegate, Wisconsin Delegation to Germany
- Adviser, Wisconsin’s Green Tier program
- Adviser, University of Wisconsin Initiative on Climate Change Impacts
- Adviser, Edgewood College Sustainability Leadership
- Program
Advisor, Capital Region Sustainable Communities
- Board Member, Wisconsin Public Utility Institute
John was also elected as Board Trustee for the Village of Shorewood Hills and completed the Civitas 10-part series of forums focused on
government finance, public education services and finances, and an
analysis of government services. John, a Carroll College graduate, is
also co-owner of Arbor House, an award-winning inn and model for
sustainable tourism located in Madison, Wisconsin.
